Wonderful Wednesday Begins…

It’s Our First Camp of the Year!!!

Dessert Camp – Yummy, Yummy!!!

Dessert Camp has begun! The first week we made a delicious concoction of Chex Mix, M&Ms and almond bark. It was super simple and super delicious! Those of you that came to Family Night Supper on August 25th got a chance to sample the kid’s yummy dessert for a mere 50cents – what a bargain! Each week the kids will continue to follow a recipe to make some new fantastic dessert. They make enough for themselves (of course!) and they make extras to sell at dinner for 50 cents each. Personally, I think that alone is reason enough to come to Family Night Supper – to have a yummy homemade sweet!

The Dessert Camp lessons are all about the bible. We are discussing how important it is to read our bibles to find out about God and his plan for us. We are relating the bible to the recipes we use to make our desserts. If we make the dessert without using the recipe, we will most likely end up with something we don’t necessarily want to eat, but when we follow the recipe we get something yummy. It is like that with the bible. We can attempt live our lives without opening the bible to see what God has to tell us, but we will most likely end up with a life we are not happy with.

However, if we use our bible and live the way God teaches us, then we will end up with a life of joy and peace and love. So every week, we will learn more about our bible, it’s importance and it’s structure. Knowing more about how the bible is set up and how to use it will make it easier for us to find what we need in it.

Remember – friends are always welcome at Wonderful Wednesday, so make sure you invite a few!!!

Kid’s Sunday School Classes

The Children’s Sunday School Classes will be working through a 4 week unit in September where they will be building a strong bond with their classmates and teachers. Each week will have a new activity to help the kids and their teachers get to know each other better. We’ll be making pizzas, creating puppets for a puppet show, playing games and making some very cool artwork. We have amazing children and teachers in our Sunday School Classes and they are about to learn more about each other. Our bible verse that the unit will be based on is Isaiah 43:1, “I have called you by name, you are mine.”

This will be a fantastic start for a new year of classes and I pray that the children of First United will come and really build some strong friendships. Friendships that will carry them through not only their elementary school years, but continue through middle and high school when good Christian friends are so important.
